Let October's Awareness Reflect Everyday! (by martian cat)

Let October's Awareness Reflect Everyday!

Just like this bird is doing... check yourself every day...

This is my special thank you to all of these group participants who worked so hard to keep spreading the message of "October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month" on flickr this month. Your photos, created images, and stories were so special to see and read this month!

~~~ Everyone deserves their own special "☆" because you are a "☆"!
Remember... this type of Awareness reflects upon our days all year long!
Love you all and heaps of hugs, Chris (aka) martian cat
"If pink ribbons could talk..."
If pink ribbons could talk... (by martian cat)
If pink ribbons could talk, these would be full of stories. Over 30 people submitted ribbon tags with their name or that of a loved one.
And, a friend assembled the ribbons onto the tree.
Family and friend memories are cherished.
Family and friend memories are cherished. (by martian cat)
Memories are cherished. And, many times, dear friends become family!
1. Martha (1927-1971)
This ribbon is for my Mama (Martha) who passed away from complications due to breast cancer. My Mama passed away when I was only 17 years old.
2. Elizabeth (1907-1951)
This ribbon is for my Grandma (Elizabeth) who passed away from complications due to breast cancer in 1951. And, I never met her, but heard wonderful stories about her from my Mama.
3. Frederick (1926-1999)
This ribbon is for my Dad (Frederick) who passed away from complications due to skin cancer. My Dad passed away 10 years ago.
4. Anna (1910-2005)
This ribbon is for one of my dearest friends. Anna, who passed away from complications due to numerous health problems (including cancer).
Anna was always there when I needed someone to talk to. She passed away 4 years ago at the age of 95. And, I miss her so much!
Pink thoughts begin with a smile & LOVE!
Pink thoughts begin with a smile & LOVE!
Pink thoughts begin with a smile and LOVE!
We all have PINK thoughts at this time of year. I love PINK!
Should I go have my follow-up mammogram?
Maybe you are thinking... Well, my test last year showed there was no problem. Maybe it is OK for me to not follow-up with a new mammogram this year. I'll do it next year.
Either way, please begin with a smile. Today... please pick-up your phone and make your appointment this year. Your smile is important because it will calm you and you will think in an orderly manner. Don't miss your appointment this year...
Promise... Did I hear you promise to get your follow-up this year?
I sure hope you will do it...
"Never underestimate the power of a purr."
Pets are often used for therapy with those people who have chronic diseases. Therapy Pets often visit nursing homes and hospital wards to help bring a smile into a patient's day.
I know that I would be lost without my little fluffy soul mate. I have severe asthma. My cat, Megumi, calms me down when my asthma is causing me troubles.
1. "Mama, what are you looking for?",
2. "Mama, can I help you?",
3. "Mama, let me purr a little song for you."
These 2 ribbons were made for two special women in my life.
Both passed away at almost the same age and 20 years apart.
These women are Martha (my Mama) and Elizabeth (my Grandma).
These women did not have early detection available during their lifetime.
We do... please remember to have your Mammogram this month!
A special thank you to my flickr friends for all of their efforts towards helping to remind you to take care of you!
